BALF's programs provide a positive learning environment and a college-focused mentality for each participant.

Be A Leader Institute Elementary (BLIE)

The Be A Leader Institute Elementary (BLIE) was established in 2006 for the Roosevelt Elementary School District (RESD) and since then has been expanded into the Osborn Elementary School District. BLIE instills the possibility of a college education and the self-esteem necessary to pursue one for 7th grade students. The purpose of BLIE is to create a positive environment and nurturing community through its College Focused Curriculum. This 8 workshop program coinciding with the academic year provides participants with the tools, resources and encouragement to attend college and be leaders in their communities. Children develop a higher level of self-esteem when in positive and healthy environments. The institute provides positive exposure and develops a strong sense of identity, confidence and desire to succeed. The students are better equipped to take on risks with poise, assurance and self-reliance. BALF’s goal is to implement the BLIE program into additional inner-city elementary school districts.  BLIE accepts applications for its program during each Spring Semester for the following academic year.  For more information about registering for the program please contact info@bealeaderfoundation.org
