Be A Leader Clubs (9th-12th Grades)

The Be A Leader Clubs are school sponsored, student led and BALF assisted groups that center on college educational aspirations and pursuits. Clubs provide students with an opportunity to build important leadership and networking skills. The club network also allows BALF to expand its footprint and assists in allowing more students to participate in activities that help them become college bound, focused and prepared. Through this student-led infrastructure BALF is able to reach over 1,100 students participating in 33 Be A Leader Clubs across the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Working with a Be A Leader High School Coordinator, Club students are provided with a variety of enrichment and motivational activities. These activities include, among other things, annual College Shadow Week where students are able to sit in on college classes in their desired field of study and explore a college campus with a mentor – keeping them focused and making progress towards college. BALF’s programming for Clubs also extends student resources during the Spring when students participate in Professional Shadow Week by living a “day in the life” with professionals from over 20 different areas of interest, including healthcare, engineering and business fields.
