As educational servant leaders, we are absolutely convinced that all children, regardless of their social economical status, race, gender or family educational history, have the ability to become college bound, focused and prepared and contributing members of society. We change the mindset of our students by eliminating the perception that receiving a college degree is an unobtainable goal.
All young people have the potential to succeed in life and contribute to society. All children have the potential to succeed in life and contribute to society. However, not all children get the support they need to thrive.
As part of our college-going website this E-mentoring section enhances each student’s college-going experience by allowing them to obtain a virtual mentor who maintains a degree, profession or industry insight that is of interest to the BALF participant. For example, making a career plan is a matter of matching your skills and interests to an occupation to create a career goal, and then deciding the steps you need to take to reach that goal including obtaining a college degree and sometimes post-secondary degrees.
The E-Mentoring section is a virtual mentor networking site where a student can alphabetically navigate and narrow their future interests by selecting a university, college, degree or profession. Once a student picks an area of interest and has identified and selected a virtual mentor, they have the ability to directly connect with this individual who has either gone to the university or college of choice, received the type of degree sought, or who has been active in the profession of interest. Each virtual mentor will be contacted through our website and will act as a support mechanism to help their mentee plan their educational and career pursuits. The student gets to learn directly from someone who has achieved success in their field of interest or who has obtained a degree from their university or college of choice. BALF has a formal application process for each of the individuals who participate in the mentorship program.
