BALF's programs provide a positive learning environment and a college-focused mentality for each participant.
In addition to participating in Saturday BLIH workshops, BALF students become part of a network of college bound students through our Be A Leader Clubs. The Clubs support and encourage their membership to actively participate in the monthly high school workshops and additional college-going club activities. The following will provide a short description of our annual Be A Leader Club Activities. Pictures from each of these activities can be found in the photo galleries to the left. Join our club!

Be A Leader Club "College Shadow Day"
It is our goal to enhance each of our students high school experience with opportunities where they could first hand see themselves as college scholars. Therefore, each fall over 120 our high school students participate in College Shadow day. Students are surveyed at the beginning of each school year and asked what major they would like to study in college. BALF then takes those answers and matches each high school student who signs up for College Shadow day with a college student who is pursuing that major. The high school students gets to attend a minimum of 2 college classes, have lunch on a busy and bustling college campus and connect with a college student. Each year high school students await this opportunity with great anticipation!
The Be A Leader Foundation continues to seek opportunities to empower high school students to become college bound, focused and prepared. Along with having students go through a college-going curriculum we find it imperative that these young students are exposed early on to a variety of experiences that will keep them on a college bound track. Therefore, BALF partners with a variety of professional organization whom play a critical role in the development of our students. Professional Shadow day allows a wide variety of corporations and organizations the opportunity to allow students to "live a day in the life" of a professional. Our goal is to provide students with a wide variety of professions to choose from including but not limited to Business, Architecture, Law, Medicine, Engineering, Art, and Non-Profit. Professional Shadow Day takes place each Spring.
