Michelle Jimenez serves as the West Valley High School Coordinator with the Be A Leader Foundation, supporting clubs and schools throughout the region and facilitating workshops with the Be A Leader High School program and supporting the 8th grade program at the Roosevelt Elementary School District
Prior to joining Be A Leader, she was a Lung Health Programs Coordinator for the American Lung Association through Public Allies Arizona (an AmeriCorps Program). She specialized in increasing education training opportunities in Arizona as well as educating more patients, caregivers, and medical professionals. Before coming to the American Lung Association, she was a City Year Corps Member in Chicago. City Year partners with school districts to place AmeriCorps members in high-need schools and provide students with one-on-one support to overcome challenges they face both in and out of school. In addition to working with individual students who are at-risk of dropping out, she also provided support to help transform the whole school – including leading school-wide events and activities, after school programming, and in class support for teachers.
She earned a Bachelors in Political Science and minor in Spanish at DePaul University before moving to Arizona. When she is not at work she is out in the community volunteering and trying to be civically engaged. She loves her family, her partner and dog Scooby. She absolutely loves to dance and listen to music.
