The Be A Leader Foundation (BALF) focuses on helping disadvantaged and minority students (“Participants”) develop their talents and abilities. BALF teaches them how to build their leadership skills to achieve their aspirations. The organization advocates such core values as integrity first, excellence in all we do, and treating people with dignity and respect. The organization emphasizes building trust and confidence in relationships, developing the self-confidence needed to both lead and follow, and formulating and implementing ethical and value-based decisions.
Our goal is to execute on five major efforts that are focused on helping elementary, high school and college students become more effective through the use of computers and technology. The major efforts include the following: 1) Roosevelt Community Technology Center $2,000,000 Re-investment Campaign; 2) BALF Valedictorian Club program for eighth grade students; 3) Be A Leader Institute (BLI) program for seventh grade students 4)BALF Leadership Scholarship Programs to support and mentor Middle, High School and College Students and 5) BALF work experience and summer internship program.
The Founders of the Be A Leader Foundation (BALF) and the staff of Roosevelt Community Technology Center (RCTC) have worked together for over 10 years to maintain the facility and operate programs in the Roosevelt Elementary School District. Today, we continue to promote and implement many exciting activities that our organizations believe are value-added contributions to the patrons of the RCTC. As necessary and appropriate, and to the extent resources are available, the organization will continue to provide financial assistance to enable Participants to play a part in building their future through our leadership and work experience programs.
The organization specifically provides Scholarships and formal training programs that focus on teaching the following twelve (12) Leadership skills and their “Key Administrative Behaviors”:
